6 Wedding Registry Gifts for the Colorado Couple

As a couple who has spent most of our relationship living together on Colorado's Front Range, and who are getting married ourselves, there are several wedding registry gifts we feel are must-haves for any outdoorsy couple. Yes, life on the Front Range doesn't stop you from enjoying a delicious espresso, or wanting that Ninja Creami for your protein maxing. But if you're like us, there are some items that would go a long way on your registry.

Like many of you, we're hikers, we're bikers, and we're skiers. These activities are a window into why life on the Front Range is so great, and we think these are things every Coloradan should own, whether you just moved to Colorado or you're born and raised. And if you want help with the rest of your list, we built the Heirloomish registry quiz, which matches registry gifts to how you actually live.

1. A volleyball net for Denver park days

If you live in Denver, you know the park culture here is immaculate, and you've likely seen or played in the countless volleyball games at Wash Park, Cheesman, City Park, or one of the many others. If you're like us, you can't get enough volleyball. That's why we recommend putting a volleyball net on your registry. It's one of those things you might not have had the budget for, and it will provide years of fun for you and your friends. Any guest would love to be remembered for the gift that brings everyone together outside. Our pick is the Park & Sun Sports Spectrum Classic, a regulation-size 32-foot net with poles that adjust to men's, women's and co-ed heights.

2. A dog harness for your pup

We Coloradans love our dogs! If you have a dog, we're betting your pup will be a focus in the photos and decor around the celebration. That's why your pup deserves a spot on your registry too. We love the Ruffwear Front Range harness, which keeps the pressure in the right spots for our pup while walking. If you'd rather go Colorado-made, Atlas Pet Company builds its harnesses and leashes in Golden.

3. A bike pump, the non-negotiable

This is a non-negotiable must-have. I know way too many people who own bikes for their commute down the Cherry Creek Trail, are getting into gravel biking, or are ready to pick up mountain biking, and they don't own a bike pump. Honestly, that was me for a little while. But let me tell you, life actually got better and easier for both of us once we owned one. Our pick is the Topeak JoeBlow Sport III floor pump, a solid floor pump that handles both Presta and Schrader valves.

4. A backcountry water filter

Once you start camping, you'll begin to understand that some of the best camping isn't just on the roadside. Multi-day trips can take you to some of the most expansive and beautiful mountain passes in the country, and nothing is more necessary than clean water on your adventure. If you're an adventurous or outdoorsy couple, a water filter absolutely belongs on your registry. We like the Sawyer Squeeze. Filters like this last a long time, and you'll be thinking about the guest who gave it to you for decades to come, in some of the most beautiful places around Colorado.

5. A magnetic ski holder, the budget-friendly pick

Now for the skiers. If a major gift just isn't your style and you'd rather keep things more affordable for your guests, we recommend a magnetic ski holder for the side of your car. Everyone knows the feeling of unloading skis in a ski area parking lot and wondering what to do with them while you get the rest of your gear together. It might not be something you'd buy on your own, but boy, is it handy. We like the SnoStrip by RigStrips, from a Denver company. It costs a fraction of what a roof rack does.

6. A ski rack, the heavy hitter

Many people in Colorado are skiers, us included! If you're a skier yourself, you should absolutely be looking at a big-ticket item for your registry. For us, we've been putting off buying the right ski rack for years. We throw our skis in the back of the car and have to lay the seats down, and honestly, it's high time we upgraded our transportation system. We recommend the Thule SnowPack. It mounts to roof crossbars, so add a set of those to your registry too if your car doesn't have them.

These are our Colorado must-haves, but every couple's list looks different. The Heirloomish registry quiz asks how you spend your weekends and picks gifts that fit your life. For more ideas, here's our list of registry ideas for outdoorsy couples and the story of why we made Heirloomish.
